Hello once again. I'm back in the gardening mood and thought I'd reintroduce myself. I've made a lot of changes this year. The huge flower garden in back? Well, I tore most of it out at the end of last year to grow a vegetable garden this year. I also removed the blackberries and side flower garden & am returning it to grass. The fence in the front of the house is gone now. The pond....gone. I guess I'm getting old enough I don't want to have to spend every last minute of my day just keeping up with the gardens. Just got done planting a few things in my new vegetable garden, have to wait until it's a bit warmer for the tomatoes. Shade gardens, boardwalk garden, everything in front, cherry trees and berms are all still there! Old back garden New back garden (gasp!) Old front garden New with vines all gone...not much growing yet.
Welcome back pianolady!! Wow, what a different look to your gardens. I guess the new gardens will look really nice when they have a chance to fill in. I miss the old look but totally understand why you needed to make a change. I have been wondering if I will ever get my gardens looking like I really want them before it's time to make life easier too.
Welcome back pianolady, With such a name I think you would fit in well around here. My husband and all my children (4) play the piano + a band instrument of their choice. So far we are up to 3 pianos to play and all the instruments. Your gardens are beautiful by the way.
I don't think I could have removed such lovely plants without crying for days! Can't wait to see how your new gardens fill in. And welcome back!
I did transplant the bulk of the plants, so it wasn't too upsetting. I've spent the last week transplanting the bulbs and perennials from my other flower garden I'm eliminating, so that's a win-win because it's free!
Hi again I read the "Peanut Post" first and said hi in there I know where you are coming from wanting to "simplify things" I about killed myself in the yard this last weekend and kept asking myself why??????
It's so good to have you back with us Pianolady!! You've been putting a lot of hard work into your front and back gardens haven't you? They are both going to look fantastic once the planting is complete and settles in to mature. Do keep us updated on your progress won't you?
Welcome back PL! I'm with Stratsmom - I sure understand wanting to simplify... and yet I keep planting new stuff... Ah well. That's a nice view looking down your grass lawn to your new veggie plot.... lovely.
Gardens are always going to change whether we plan it or not (at least that is true of my yard..between the moles, dogs and my own energy level). You really took some definitive action there. My back hurts just looking at all the work that went into your changes. Good to see your name and posts again. Can't wait to see your posts later this summer to see what all your hard work has created.
Hi Pianolady. I am glad you are back, but at the moment, I cannot see doing all of that. I would bawl my eyes out if my gardens got ripped up like that. Maybe I will like it better when the new stuff has grown in. I am a newbie here, and just joined a few days ago. I love to play piano too.
