well, tina....i can't say i would even know where to start to identify them, but you can always plant them,in a pot or elsewhere and see what comes up....and if you don't like them, they'll be easy to remove. (if they are peonies, that would be awsome!)

Plant a surprise, that is always fun. Looks like the first one is mature enough to produce a flower. Now that you have peaked our interest, you have a bunch of curious gardeners watching.......waiting.......

Before you pot them up, pull that long white rhizome of quack grass out of the one tuber :-x that will never go away if you don't.

Mmmm intersting but I can't ID them for you. They could very well be peonies but we'll all wait to see what grows for you. Do keep us updated please.

I love surprises!!!!!(flower surprises that is :p ) That would be awesome if it were a big, fluffy pink peony!!! Do like Carolyn says~ pull that piece of grass out of the tuber!!! Those aren't tuber roots, that is a piece of quack grass trying to hitchhike :-x Once it gets in your flower bed you will spend the rest of your natural life pulling it out!

That was 13 days. That was fast. I thought this surprise would take forever but I see it's going to be a quick surprise. Very happy to see that.

Good job Calin! Definitely right on!

Be sure to plant it in its forever place, Tina. I spent five years digging one out of the same spot. :-? Did end up with a nice row of them along the north xside of my kitchen. :D They are so fragrant.
