I have beautiful white rhododenron in my garden. I tried rooting the rhododenron by layering and I can see about 4 inches of the new plant now. I want to plant that in a container. What is the best way to do that? Will my plant survive if I pluck it out and plant in a container.

Try an scrap away some of the soil where the roots should have developed an if you see a decent amount then I would dig out as many roots as you can, be gentle, then snip if off the mother plant. Once you have it planted in your container water it in good an I would place it in a shady spot for a couple weeks so it won't suffer transplant shock. If you don't have some good roots by peeking then leave it be for a while longer.
