    hey, i'm new here. ;)

i'm hoping i made the right decision by pulling something out of my flower bed today. it had rapidly grown about 2 feet tall, huge massive stalk and root system. it's leaves were very much like a fern, and it's stalks were almost rhubarb looking, but more cylindar. went from reddish purple to green. no buds or areas were it looked like it would flower out.

does this sound like a weed or plant anyone knows about? thanks!

A picture might be helpful. While we can eliminate a lot of plants from your description, that still leaves a jungle of plants as candidates for a guess.

Your description of the purple changing to green stalks sounds a lot like Giant Hogweed Mandy. It grows very quickly. Did it have 'hairs' on the stalk? Was it hollow? I hope you were wearing gloves when you removed it. Have a look at this and then let me know what you think...

Mandy I hope it wasn't a fern leaf peony. Mine have red stalky looking stems. Do a online search for a pic and see if that is what it was. :stew1:
