I learned of it this morning, from my sister. So as I opened my PC, I thought of posting this here - But to my surprise Capt Kirk already did, so that's all good too.

Anyway, I found Leonard Nimoy's last Tweet very interesting, so I'm sharing it you all here (as we are all gardeners)... By the way, LLAP means "live long and prosper".

Anyhow, if I today look back in hindsight, at my own childhood - Then it is fair to say that Mr. Spock (as he was the scientist) and Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott (being the real tech guy) - Were the people who probably had the greatest influence on my early development... Spock I understood very well, and Scotty I could easily identify with, as my father was an Engineer too!

So it is fair to say that had it not been for them, I probably wouldn't have studied orbital mechanics, high energy physics, electronics, and other engineering stuff - And I also wouldn't have put my hand in the fields of, metallurgy, machine tools, and 3D CAD & CAM (computer aided designing & manufacturing). All because I also wanted to boldly go where no man had gone before...

Therefore, had it not been for the cast of Star Trek, I probably would have grown up to become just another one of the average near useless guys - Seated on a desk somewhere, (from 9 to 5), working at an even more useless white collar job. Much like in the movie Groundhog Day... So thanks to Star Trek, at least I was saved!

I had heard he was sick recently but still I'm saddened to hear of his passing. Another childhood hero is gone. RIP Mr. Nimoy.

One by one the characters of the Enterprise beam up for the last great adventure. Their exploits forever preserved in our memories.
