    Water water everywhere (but here).
I do hope the rains stop before there's any serious flooding.

    Hi Cheryl,
trouble is that its raining throughout the whole country so even when it stops the water has to flow in our direction from all the other areas up north,..those steps in the picture are all about 12 inches high apart from the bottom one,..i am predicting the water will reach the top step perhaps higher.

Oh dear Philip it looks as though you're having the same problems we are. :( Our river looks as though it's about to burst its banks. I hope the rain stops and stays away so that the run off settles and the levels begin to drop back. :fingerscrossed:

Molly looks as though she's monitoring the level of the water and making sure all her feathered friends are OK. :-D

We have had so much flooding in the Eastern part of the US this summer, early fall, I hope the water stops rising over your way...very soon.

I have noticed on the weather maps just how much rain you have been having Philip and hoping that some of it will drift as far down as our area but alas, apart from a few showers now and then, nothing. I was working in the garden yesterday and it is just like a dust bowl.

    Hi Pat,
gosh you sure are having it dry,..i was looking at your weather for last week,..well in that general area and the coast,..it was big sales of ice cream on the beaches,..suntan lotion,..buckets and spades for the children,..freaky weather indeed.

Your plant life could do with some of our rain.

    -----------------------------------------------------

    Hi Cayuga Morning,
the norm would be what you see in the picture above for the 28th,..that used to be a diving board,..but it was washed away some time back,..so anything higher is flooding,..there are two different areas,..Lake Area is where the diving board was,..and River Area which is below the Weir,..the latter suffers worse flooding,..in the picture below you will see a white Van in the distance,..that's where i am heading today.

Here we are,..just where the white van was parked.

Its a well known Wildlife Area,..and where you can hear the Corncrake every year.

The river is on the far side of the red marker,..so you can see the flood starting.

The same area during harvest time,..oh that's my daughter in law,..expecting a baby.

    ---------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile back at the river,..what you see here is a field,..the river starts in the distance where you see the line of reeds,..just off center.

River starts the other side of the wooden platforms.

Congratulations Grandad :p I assume your daughter-in-law has had the baby, boy or girl?....or maybe you are still in waiting?

Gardengirl, you are right, it is a beautiful area. What a great place to live. I love the look of the wide open spaces. And, Philip, congratulations on the upcoming baby!
The signage is great, educating the public on what an important wildlife area it is.

Philip, I hope the wildlife area recovers from the flooding.
Your daughter-in-law is lovely. Enjoy your grandchild. :smt049
I loved seeing the hay in the field behind you. Around here hay is in rather short supply. How many cuttings of hay do the farmers in your area get? Here in an average year we get three, if there's more rain, four cuttings. This year it was two.

    Hi Cayuga Morning,
its a great place to live,..close to town but in the countryside within a short walk.

    ---------------------------------------------------

    Hi Jane,
yep Ulrika is a great girl,..loves the outdoors,..took to the water and the boat like a natural.
The hay is cut twice in most places,..but it can get a short cutting for making silage .
