One more item I get to scratch off my bucket list. It was indoor rock climbing only, because I have a really hefty fear of heights But I did it, and had a blast in the process. I went with #3 son Devin, who does these climbing walls from time to time so he kind of coached me till I gained a bit of confidence. The rappelling down after I climbed was the scariest!! I was VERY freaked being all the way up there (it doesn't look very high folks, until you're actually at the top) and had to just let go! I'm not a risk taker by nature, AND I'm not a fan of heights, AND I'm a control freak, so it was really difficult that first time. I actually shrieked the first time I came down!
My daughter does a lot of rock climbing. I can't bear to even watch her doing it as I get panicky. I don't know how you had the courage to do it Ronni. Being able to conquer your fears and take part shows just how brave you are.
Thanks guys. It really was a blast once I got over my fear of being up that high! Funny...it didn't look terribly high when I was on the ground looking up. And it didn't FEEL all that high either as I was climbing. It was only when I got to the top and looked down that I felt it in the pit of my stomach! Within my circle of friends I am known as the Adventure Lady.....I enjoy the kinds of physical challenges that most don't think about doing once into senior citizenship. But I also like to get folks together to do them with me, which is what I did with the zip lining, and the aerial trekking and a couple of other things too. To that end, I'm working on a group climbing get together towards the end of this month, with a couple more of my kids and a number of other friends.....should be fun! I'll post more pictures when that happens.
