He came back to the feeder this morning and I was able to get a pic of him.

A very pretty bird Captain. Grosbeaks will at least stay awhile so you have time to get a camera.

My mother would spread seed on an old door set up as a table and whatever came along was welcome to eat. We had the usual variety of birds, squirrels and chipmunks. One day my mother's silent waving hand motioned me to the kitchen window overlooking the feeder. The door was literally covered with yellow grosbeaks. Too many to count, we just watched in silence as the sea of yellow consumed all the seeds on the door. It never happened again but once was enough. Something I will never forget. If i had to estimate, between 80 and 100 birds.

Beautiful, Captain. I had one at my bird feeder a couple years ago but haven't seen one for a while. Great picture.

I think he knows he's been spotted Capt. He has all that feast to himself.

He's posing nicely for his photograph isn't he? Such a handsome little bird.

He's not so little. About the same size as a robin. But his bulbus head and heavy duty beak make him look bigger. He was out at the feeder 3 or 4 times yesterday.
