I am a little late with this but I have been having a Rose Festival on my blog this last week. I have been featuring a couple of different roses each day. I will probably keep going for a few more days when I run out of rose photos! I have taken all the pictures in the last two weeks in the large rose garden I have been tending to at work (165 plants), the FDR Rose Garden in Hyde Park, NY and the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden in the Bronx at the New York Botanical Garden.

Let me know what you think and if you have any comments on the specific roses.

Wow, aren't they lovely! It makes you want to sniff your monitor when you look at them.

Lovely blog, and what marvellous photos you have there! I'm nearly tempted to start planting roses.

thanks for the nice comments and to the people that have visited. Tomorrow (Thursday) is the last day.

Droopy, I hope I inspired you a little. You are going to need some hardy roses though. :)

Hardiness is not a problem. Rain is. If I keep my roses free from rose rust, mildew, those green things that ladybugs love, deer and other pests and diseases, the rain will do them in when they are just beginning to look nice.

I've got historic roses, they do well and smell heavenly, but they are large and only bloom once.

It's called Cardinal de Richelieu, a gallica rose with "moss" on the buds.
