Sad to say none of these roses have names,..all were from cuttings,..and no names on the bush,..some are VERY old as they came from a Victorian Estate,..all in bloom just now. The Yellow one! I want the Yellow one! No wait... the peach one. Wait... that yellow and orange looks nice too! Oh never mind... they're all gorgeous whether they have a name or not!
I'm speechless. Those are such gorgeous, beautiful, lovely roses! Well, maybe not completely speechless . . . .
I tend to buy 'lost label' roses for the garden. Not only are they MUCH cheaper but it's a nice surprise when I see them bloom for me. I have six growing in front just now and am waiting for them to flower with great anticipation.
Cheryl, lol,..your a card!,..you were thinking like i do when presented with desserts and fresh cream. Jane, roses do that to people,..lol. Netty, you know that's exactly what i was thinking when i loaded that picture to the computer,..those buds look like Tulips!. Eileen, isn't it exciting not knowing what will bloom from a lost label rosebush,..just the wonder of the outcome is something,..i will have a long wait for my rosebush that grew from a seed to satisfy my curiosity.
Philip... I have a rose started from seed too. It's about 1-2 inches tall. It came from my departed sis-in-laws bush. It's still growing... so maybe one of these years I'll actually get some roses from it. Also trying to one started from seeds from one of my aunts bushes. No sign of live out of them though.
Cheyrl, look after it!,..its a challenge to get it to maturity when you consider its size and all the pitfalls it might face,..at least you know the rose,..or near enough what the rose should look like as it may not be exactly like the parent plant,..here is one of mine still in the hothouse,..the other is outside,..i don't know which bush they came from. Approx 3 inches tall. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden )
A stunning display of your blooming roses, Philip. You know--I can almost imagine that I can smell them. Well done, you!
I was stuck in the house all day due to very strong winds,..close to 100 mph,..so i got stuck into sorting out photographs and video's,..yikes!!,sooooo many,..but i found the one shown below,..Roses of course back in 2008,..at the time i think i may have rejected this?. Video.
I'm almost sure I caught the scent of all those beautiful roses as I watched your video. I hope my six new ones look half as good as yours. I must remember to post photographs of them when, and if, they flower for me this year. By the way we have the same gale force winds as you are experiencing over in Ireland. They've been accompanied by torrential rain which has made my peony roses lose their petals.
Eileen and Philip.... so sorry to hear about the gale winds over there. Seems everywhere around the world is experiencing some sort of trouble out of Mother Nature. Wonder who made her so mad??! Philip... here is a photo of my rose from seed. I've been babying it. It's kept in the laundry area. No A/C or heat. Sun from a west window. So it's nice and bright, but no direct light hits it. I water it only when it's dry to the touch. It was a yellow rose. It's one of my "missions" to get this thing big enough one day to flower. None of the cuttings by brother brought be took. So this is my last chance. rose from seed ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden )
Phillip, The sight of your beautiful Roses is a treat for me today. Just wonderful! My one and only Rose hasn't bloomed yet, but is looking very promising. Thanks for sharing (or showing off)
Hi Eileen, sorry to see your peony lost blooms!,..it was a hell of a day,..and we are in for heavy ash from the volcano,..hope it blows past and doesn't drop on us,..its heavy ash!,..looking forward to seeing your six rose bushes in bloom,..funny thing about looking at pictures of roses!,..imagination runs riot,..you can smell the roses. Hi Cheryl,oh nice wee rose,..about the same size as mine,..lets hope we both do well,..or should i say lets hope THEY do well,..we can help each other out with info. Yep mother nature is angry!,..President Obama had a great welcome here in Ireland,..almost as warm a welcome as President J.F, Kennedy or President Bill Clinton,..however his trip was cut short by 12 hours due to the Volcanic ash coming our direction from Iceland,..most flights are cancelled. Hi Kay, lol,..me showing off my roses?,..never, ,..its the roses doing that,..i hope to see some shots of your roses when the bush starts blooming.
