We were at Sam's Club today doing some shopping and they had shorts and short sleeve summer shirts out on display! Most of my yard still has 2 inches of ice and snow on it!
In September, when we are still in shorts, sandals, and tee shirts, our local stores have heavy jackets, wool scarves, and mittens on display. Just when I need to renew my summer-worn-out shorts and shirts, all we are offered is winter wear. Maybe we should set up a GardenStew clothing swap!
I was outside without a coat for the first time since the fall. It sure felt nice but got chilly after awhile. wannabe
I think people here don't dress for winter. Last week when we were all bundled up for the cold there were people out and about with no coats or jackets. They sell short sleeve shirts, etc all winter long. Shorts and sleeveless shirts are in the store all winter long, too. But, now there are gardening and spring stuff out, too. I've planted a few things but I'm not rushing it. dooley
While it warmed up today, there is still a foot and a half of snow on the ground. A light jacket worked. I'm going to put a yardstick in the snow and cheer every inch of melted snow. Jerry
My eyes are itching like mad. I get this every spring, first think. I am never sure exactly what it is that causes it, but I saw a Corylopsis glabra loaded with little hanging pollen danglers and I am now placing the blame squarely on that. They are "in bloom" all over the city. As for the stores I just got a little advert in from Lidl (a supermarket chain) and saw that they have small greenhouses, an electric saw for high-up branches and a machine that chips garden refuse. I am nowhere near ready for that kind of work in my gardens yet!
