It ws a nice morning, so I got the outside Christmas decorations up. Lights and garland hung in swags between the rail posts on the front deck. Also a big red bow at each post. Looks really nice.

Oh I'd love to see a picture too please CK. :-D

I never put up any Christmas decorations until after December the 16th. Why I hear you ask - well my daughters birthday is on the 16th and I like to make it special for her and seperate from Chrissy time. Also the decorations don't get as dusty that way!!!

Capt, at least you waited until after the middle of Nov to put your decorations out. Two of our neighbors started decorating the evening of November 1st right after taking down the Halloween things.

We haven't started yet. My husband usually does the outside when HE is ready - no matter how much I may encourage him so I just sit back and wait until he is ready to put up lights.

Aww, Eileen, you're a thoughtful mum.
I just loved reading your post, and it brought back some very warm memories.

As a December baby myself, I really learned to appreciate how my mother "protected" my day,
and made it special, rather than allowing it to be swallowed up into the holidays.
She NEVER wrapped my b'day gifts in Christmas paper, or put up any decorations til afterward.

It became a family ritual to go out to a lot and select our tree after supper on my birthday,
with me :D getting the final say as to which tree was chosen (although :-?
. . . somehow we never did bring home that snazzy pink flocked number
that I had my young heart so set on).

I still don't decorate too early in December, but now it's
mainly because we leave our decorations up all the way 'til Epiphany.

Looking forward to seeing photos, Capt Kirk [IMG] I'll bet it's beautiful!

Richard, they do the same thing in Maine! Taking down the Christmas lights is simply, turning off the light switch! :setc_079:

oooo Christmas is coming and I am getting all excited! Our decs don't go up until mid December because the kids become so wound up they would explode! Something we do on Christmas Eve with the children is get the in their PJ's, dressing gowns and slippers, wrap them up with blankets in the car, take a midnight snack and flask and go out for a drive all around the big town and the smaller villages to see everyones lights and decorations. By the time we get home the children crawl into bed ready to wait for Santa's big arrival. Number one daughter heard his jingling bells on the roof last year!
