Well...there were too many fotos to just choose a couple--there were near shots, far shots and details.
I found it difficult to imagine what would appeal to you guys, so I just made a short slide show of some of the ones that seemed represenative.
I do not know what alot of these Disney stories are, but perhaps some of you do.
The sand sculpture show is held each year with a different theme or subject line. This year, it's Disney films.
The sand is a special type used for making sculptures and doesn't erode easily with rain. It is re-used after the sculpture show is over and the sculptures have been knocked apart.
    Hope you like this.

WOW!! It's hard to believe that all those wonderful sculptues are made out of sand. Absolutely amazing works of art. So much detail that even the eyes seem almost life-like. What a pity that everything gets knocked down and the only way to preserve them is to take photographs.

That is amazing! I wanted to move into one of those castles. All sculptures are so full of detail it's hard to grasp the fact that it's sand, and I'm sorry they have to be demolished. I would have had a grand time "helping" them tearing the things down, though.

Thanks for your nice words. I apologize that it took so long to post.
Actually the sculptures were not pristine, as they had already begun to melt and erode a little from the rain, but it's easy to get an idea.
I believe that there are such sculpture shows in other countries from time to time, but I can't recall where.

I know they have sand sculpures in Florida, along the Gulf in Alabama. I've only seen the ones in Alabama. Amazing, but i know they have them all over the coasts of America, just not to sure where tho.

Wow, those are really fantastic. I wonder what the sculptors who created those do during the rest of the year.

Is the sand stored somewhere and brought out just for these sculpture shows?

I understand that the sculptors have regular jobs the rest of the time...but I don't know for a fact.

The sand is stored and used again.

Glad you liked the pics, Petunia. I think that you are right about all the work that goes into these sculptures--the planning and the execution of the plans. I think that it would take a patient and meticulous artist.
