After having spent more than 10 hours travelling both on land and air, we were really glad that my friends were waiting for us at the airport to pick us up. It was about 6 years ago when we last met so there were lots of catching up to do and by the time we went to bed it was already past 3:00am .... yawn!!!

A very popular and original Thai desert, the mango is wonderful.

Having been to Bangkok many times in the past for business, meals are always confine to hotels or restaurants. For this trip I was determine to try out the street food. After consulting with my friends about eating street food, they totally rejected my request. They said that street food is only for locals and localised foreigners. As a alternative they suggested that we try the food court in the shopping mall which is much more hygenic.

Oh my what a gastronomic delight Bangkok was!! So many dishes and so beautifully presented too.
The carving is gorgeous and must take so much patience to do. I hope he didn't make any mistakes though as, no doubt, it would be very hard to correct them.
The Tuk-Tuks are a mode of transport that are used in India too but I would be scared stiff travelling at the speeds they do through heavy traffic.

I'm soo glad that you both enjoyed your trip so much and thanks for sharing all your photographs with us. :-D

I'm not surprised about the amount of food you tried KK, Bangkok was food heaven for me also :stew1: I've had great Tom Yum in Malaysia as well. I remember the spiciest food I ever tasted was a simple chicken rice in Bangkok, my first meal there actually. It almost killed my taste buds. But it was great!

BTW the football player is Stephen Gerrard of Liverpool FC fame :) Also gotta love that durian!

KK, That was an awesome feast for us to see. it all looked YUMMY. I think I want some of all of it...except the durian....We had one here that the neighbor kid brought from the Asian Market and it did smell bad, but he ate all of it. Said it was very healthy and delicious. I couldn't smell that. maybe if he ever comes and brings one again I will try it...maybe. Thanks for sharing this with us. It sounded like you really had a great time.

I woke up hungry this morning and I should have not read your post until I had something to eat. Now I'm REALLY hungry! And I love spicy food. I wish I could have some of everything that you showed.
Looks and sounds like you all had a great vacation. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Looks great and I bet it tasted every bit as good as it looks. Unfortunately we are at an age where spicy food is not so good for us as we used to eat. We ate a lot of curries in our younger days. All made with fresh mixed spices. Wish we had been along on your trip. Wannabe has been to Bangkok but it was quite awhile ago.
She sent me rice cakes from there.

Thank you all for enjoying this trip with me, it had been fantastic.

Thanks Eileen the trip is almost like a trip to fantasy land. Yes, I too would be scared travelling in a tuk tuk which I did before in another part of Thailand. Six of us packed into a single tuk tuk and luckily none of us fell out!
The carving is lovely and only the only the person who carved it would know if there is a mistake :D

Thanks Frank, Stephen Gerrard was some where in my mind but I just couldn't get it out. Guess I need to get more RAM for this old brain of mine! :D I guess our taste buds are a little different because I find the tom yam here is on the extreme and I always get stomach trouble after eating them unless it is cooked by a Thai chef.

Thanks Hank, sorry about your keyboard! :D We had a fantastic trip which I think can never be repeated again!!!

Netty I think I had put back the 2kg I lost before the trip plus a lot more :D

You are most welcome and I hope you hubby enjoy it too. If you have the opportunity, you should make a trip there because there are so much more to see.

Thanks Marlingardener, looks like you are a natural for Thai food but if you missed it would be an experience of a life time :D

Carolyn durian is a fruit that is either a love at first whiff or hate at first whiff. I know of some people initially hated it but couldn't get enough of it now, guess it is an acquired taste for some. Yes you must try it if you have the chance. :)

Thanks Donna, toast? Hmm .... we bought a bottle of orange marmalade yesterday and the taste of toast with melted butter and orange marmalade is in my taste buds right now .... I'm going to have a slice of toast tooo!!! :D

Cherylad Thanks, if you have some basil and chili in your garden and chicken in your freezer, I'm sure you can easily and quickly whip up Thai chicken chili basil it is yummie!!!

Theodoros I'm sure you would be able to, it is indeed a beautiful place really rich in culture and yummie stuff!!!

Wannabe, that was really a long time ago, now they have lemongrass tea which is rather refreshing ... maybe they had it a long time ago but this is the first time I had it.
