Hubby has been having a time trying to keep the deer out of the veggie garden. We've put up all sorts of whirly-things... like kid's pinwheels. Tied aluminum pans to the fence posts. And plastic grocery sacks. Took old CDs and strung them up from the tree. Finally it was time to bring in reinforcements. We each made a scarecrow... or what we now call scaredeers! :D
Here's hubby's. Several people have commented that they thought it was him out in the garden! (He's skinny... but not THAT skinny! :D )

Since adding them to the garden AND leaving a radio playing. No more deer problems!
    :fingerscrossed:

Excellent artwork. They look real enough to the wildlife I'm sure. Do you also move them around? Sometimes the animals get used to them being in one spot and become pests again. i have heard of putting a radio on a talk station all night to keep the racoons out of the garden, but I haven't done it yet. We do string ELECTRIC fence around the corn patch once it starts to ripen. that helps a lot!

Haven't moved them yet. I'll let Hubby know that it's a good idea to move them ever-so-often.

They look great! We just put one up at work today too, so I can't wait to see if it works!

The muntjac deer are a pain on our allotment site, and I have had 3 different scarecrows, but it hasn't put them off. Now we have fencing as a deterent, along with cd's strung up. Pesky nature.

Cheryl, no deer is going to believe your scarecrow lady--too well dressed. I'll send you a pair of my tattered shorts and a ragged tee shirt. That is believeable, and has also frightened off various humans here! :D

Jane... I own 2 skirts, both black. One for summer. One for winter. For funerals, weddings, or any other occasion that would require me to "dress up". And I've had the same ones for years! So I had no dress to put her in.
Found an old slip that belonged to Momma in the "rag bag". So... that's what she got to wear!
You wouldn't believe some of the comments I've been getting from "the boys"! :-o
I have plenty old tattered shorts and tops... but heck... I'm still getting use out of them! :D

I can see the newspaper headlines now "Local couple cause deer stampede with skinny scarecrows" :)
