    I need everyones experience.

I want to grow a scented garden by which I mean flowers with the sort of perfume which you smell before you see them: like oriental lilies. Any suggestions ?
I am in Zone 5 just north of Toronto.

Thanks to all you enthusiastic gardeners

    Phil

Honeysuckle is pretty fragrant and so is mock orange!
I'm like you in that I LOVE the smell of blossoms. Those lucky folks down south have jasmine and gardenia and magnolia. Us cold weather gardeners aren't quite as lucky.

A few more scented plants came to mind...Lavender, Stock, 4 O'clocks, Datura, and Heliotrope.

Valerian, phlox, roses, lavender and Ceanothusare a few more.
I like fragrance in a garden...the visual is not enough.

    Antique roses
    some lilies
    lilacs
    sweet autumn clematis
    magnolia (lightly scented)
    clethra (summersweet)
    and even some azalea.

Russian sage and catmint both have leaves that smell spicy if you rub them.

    Honeysuckle vine is also nice.

Up in zone 4, we have Star Magnolia (Magnolia stellata) that is hardy. :)
