I don't know about you guys, but I actually long for the changes in the seasons. I love every season in it's own right. I adore the autumn, the leaves starting to turn colour, looking more beautiful now than in the middle of summer. I can smell fires in the air as people start to have them in their homes, or people have bonfires to deal with the mountains of leaves. I love the different wildlife. I see a lot more squirrels in the autumn, and out native birds seem to be friendlier now. And those misty cold mornings where you can see your breath. The children play at being dragons. I also like the big cut down and tidy up that takes place in lots of gardens and things are tidied away - you can see the soil, and I love the soil, as my sons class will tell you! I know we all long for those long summer days, with flowers and butterflies, but the autumn has so much to give with it colours and smells.

I love autumn too. We can't burn leaves because of the air quality but there are a few houses in our neighborhood with fireplaces that smell wonderful in late autumn and I love the smell of the center heating system when it comes on for the first time each year.
Course none of that is likely to happen around here for at least another month if not longer but at last the heat of summer is over and I have hopes of cooler weather.

You're right, EJ. There is much to enjoy with each season. Here in the South, there is much decorating with Pumpkins, gourds and fall flowers. Next season will be the crisp, sunny days and evenings by the fire. Enjoy!

You are right EJ...fall is a great time, but I always go into it a bit reluctantly.
Cleaning up and the sight of a tidy garden looks so good. I actually like cleaning-up--you can really see your accomplishments so easily.
I would guess that the way the light looks and the smell of fall are the two most striking aspects of the season that I like. Tree leaves are beautiful, but all too fleeting.
I'm a cheater because I'm already making plans for the spring and summer. heh heh heh :)
Those Saffron crocuses that I experimented with this fall make me think of spring, I just can't help it.

I've always liked fall. We used to take the boys to the parks and have a fall weiner roast. There was one place that had wild grapes that made the best jelly. It always smelled so good because you used to be able to rake the leaves and burn them. But, then came winter and I'm just not a cold weather person. Fall is my favorite time of the year. dooley

I like Fall too. Spring is my favorite and then summer. Winter I could do without!

I'm not very fond of autumn. It's ok those days when the sun is out, the colours are bright and shiny and the air so clear I feel I can reach out and touch the mountain tops, but those days are few and far between. We usually have lots of rain and wind. Besides, winter is just around the corner, and snowless winters are so dark and dreary! Especially when the frost digs in and everything is frozen solid. Poor plants. :(

I also like autumn, apart of course for having to clear up the mountains of leaves from my lawn that have fallen from my two large hawthorn trees  but having said that the sun is shining today, clistening on the morning dew with a slight nip in the air and the smell of the damp earth after yesterday's rain. You are right EJ, you can't beat it :)

I love all the seasons in their own way when we get true seasons but recently we have had one long rainy season, there is something endearing though even about the rain if you dont have to go out with it, autumn is good getting the fire on in an evening and getting cosy, while the wind blows outside, it just is not fun to have to go out in. I love winter if we get a true winter but recent years it has just been cold and wet not the crisp fosty mornings and the snow carpets, though winter is sad this year as we lost my mother in law in january after a short period of being very sick with cancer that started this time last year I remember standing outside the hospital after she passed and there being a few flakes of snow. Ok im getting emotional but its funny the little things you remember

Fall here lasts about 2 weeks, thats it. but in those 2 weeks the weather is so frosty and the colors bold. The air smells so fresh and crisp with sea salt. Makes you really feel alive. But i have to say my favorite time is the darktime. We go out during the day and the Northern Lights are dancing in the sky all the time. Driving or walking under those is so special. Almost a spiritual event. All day long. I've already seen the Lights here at night, and in another month or so they will be out all the time, i can't wait.
