My bf pulled my friend India's name as his secret santa. I thought maybe I could make something for him to give her, and since she's pregnant with twins, the gift could be geared towards them. She's a first time mom, is there anything I could make she would need that other people wouldnt be giving her a million of?? Or maybe something -she- could use? Agh, I dont know! :smt119

It needs to be easy, since I only have a week to make it, and Im still a beginner on the sewing machine :D

Once they start drooling...which is within three to four months or so...you can't have enough bibs...they are easy to make, you can use snaps or velcro. You need something absorbent or waterproof on the back...you can make them plain, or go nuts and make them fancy.

Jen how about something to mark the fact that she is having twins? A special piece of jewelry perhaps? For example: two little intertwining hearts - with the initials of the children in them - or something similar.
I'm sure she would love to have a gift that she can keep for the rest of her life. Do let us know what you decide on won't you?

Blankets--buy cotton flannel and make baby blankets. All you need to do is hem them on the sewing machine. No young mother has enough baby blankets!

I was going to suggest bundling blankets. Use 1 1/4 yards of flannel for each blanket. This makes the blanket large enough to wrap the baby like a papoose. Most babies like to be snug. (When I babysat for a set of twins, I used them daily. This was the only way I could get them to sleep. Eventually the blankets made it to the home of the twins never to be seen by me again. The father was amazed everyday he came to pick them up that they were sleeping, I called them my magic blankets.)

The secret Santa gift is for her and not a baby shower gift...right? If you want to make blankets for the babies that would be a great gift for when the babies are born.

Get something for her to make her feel feminine and not like the blimp she is most likely comparing herself too with twins on the way. Getting baby gifts when you are pregnant over the holidays or on your birthday is a pretty depressing thing.

If you knit or crochet get some bright, colorful yarn and make her a shawl or hat. Find some wonderful smelling handcream, body lotion, cologne that will 'baby' her when she uses them.
Unless her doctor has taken her off of sweets/caffeine you could get her a stash of chocolate to nibble on when she feels down and definitely to nibble on while the twins are asleep.

Toni, you make a good point there. Maybe I will save the baby stuff for later.

I could do jewelry, like Eileen mentioned. One of my latest hobbies is chainmail jewelry, so I could make her something special :)

Doing the baby stuff later would give me more time to pick out the perfect fabric/print ;)

I agree with Toni ... she will probably get loads of stuff for the babies from baby showers. Get her something for HER ... pretty soon it is all going to be about the babies. Some jewellery or home made soaps etc would be great!

I agree with the others... make something just for her... and something that will last. I think a piece of your jewelry would be extra special!

Ok, this is the bracelet I made for her :) Its Byzantine weave using 18gauge 3/16th inch ID rings. I used royal blue and purple rings for the connections :)

Sorry the pic is fuzzy. Sometimes my phone takes great pics, sometimes the pics are...hmm, not so great lol
