Very exciting here in Essex. I can now start to sow some seeds for the coming season. I have a selection of onions, loads of tomatos, aubergines and sweet and chilli peppers to get going. Also my seed potatos have now arrived which should keep me in spuds for an entire year. I also have a zuccinni/courgette that doesn't need pollinating to set fruit, so I am going to try an experiment and start a couple off and grow them in my frost free greenhouse to see if I can grab a few very early fruits, long before the main plants are even out on the allotment. Ooo, I love the thought that spring is in the air, even though we are in the midst of such horrid weather.
EJ isn't it funny how we gardeners look forward to buying seeds when other women shop for things like shoes, make-up, clothes and handbags!!! Mind you I did buy a new pair of wellies last year. I've just started a batch of mushrooms off and am ready to get my tomatoes planted. This year I'm trying a black cherry tomato. Have you ever sown any by any chance? Oh I meant to ask you do you know anywhere that sells decent orange tomato seeds? Looking forward to some piccies of your babies when they start to sprout. :-D
Yes EJ, it is that time. BTW, I found lemon cucumber seeds at WalMart of all places. It's the cheapie brand, American Seed. 30 cents a pack, and I got some carrots for 10 cents. I was going to order the lemon cuke seeds for $2.95 a pack plus shipping.
I am looking forward to getting my seeds started in my little plastic house. It did cone through the ice not sure yet if I lost any plants or not. Just can't wait to start my seeds from every one.I may not have room .I want to plant some Sunday and Mon.in my plastic box.You got a great deal Cajunbelle.
I haven't grow black cherry toms Eileen, but have grown black plum toms. They were incredibly tasty, if not a little odd looking. Lemon cucumbers are a firm fave in this house, apple sized cucumbers that the children can eat like fruits. Orange toms, I will see what I have in my box as a dutch chum, not Ina , sent me loads of tom seeds. I don't tend to buy tom seeds very often as he keeps me well supplied. I will let you know.
Thanks EJ that would be great. :-D If you don't have any I can order some but I only want one pack and the postage is almost as much as the seeds!! Maybe Sjoerd can lay his hands on some for me and I could collect them when I'm over there later this year.
