I've cleared my veggie patch and bit by bit I'm planting the seeds in nicely demarcated areas. And now there's seedlings! But, are they the right ones??? I'm at a loss. There's so many plants in the rest of the garden, and still some butternuts trying to regrow and I have absolutely no idea what a broccoli seedling (amongst others) is supposed to look like! Do I just let them all grow until they're bigger and I can hazard a better guess? Or is there some secret master-gardener technique I don't know about....? I tried google images but none of those pictures even look like each other :setc_039:

Do you remember what grew there before? Its really hard to tell what some are when small.

You usually have to wait until at least the second set of leaves grows before being able to ID a seedling. The first set are usually generic but after that they take on the look of the specific plant.

Well, can you take any pictures to show us? mostly it will be a general id not a specific... such as yes it is broccoli or a cucurbit, but not whether it is cucumbers or melons... peppers but, not hot or sweet peppers until they show fruit. etc.
