My niece is looking for an indoor plant that doesn't need a lot of sun.. I think she would prefer something that will stand out like a tree or a large type of plant. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'd go with a Peace Lily.

She could try Sanseveria if she likes that sort of look. They will grow anywhere.

My choice for plants that thrive under low light conditions and are hard to kill:

    Aspidistra elastic..........cast iron plant

    Members of the Dracaena genus

    D. marginata.........dragon tree
    D. sunderina.........lucky bamboo
