Things are progressing rather slowly here, springwise. The snow and ice has gone, but there has been this persistent rain for days now. I cannot hoe or dig the moist soil now, so I am left with the seedlings at home and the chitting spuds. Even that is going quite slowly. With all this free time I wound up taking a trip down Memory Lane--I started looking through old fotos from last year and that cheered me right up--all that colour! It sort of gave me hope of things to come. Here are a few of last years' garden flowers: A backlit Crocosmia leaf with the shadow of a Trollius behind it. The Ipomoea "Sunrise Serenade". Clematis "Miss Bateman" The Clematis "Xerxes" Veronica A honey bee on a Helenium autumnale The Caryopteris clandonensis A Cistus A daylily Astrantia major 'Buckland' A blue Scabiosa ....and finally a general overview of the garden gate and front border. Oh, I think that you can see that I have a very strong urge for spring to arrive....
Spectacular pictures Sjoerd, I hope we can look forward to a spring and summer of the same. Now we can wait and dream. Thank you. Jerry
Gergeous - simply gorgeous Sjoerd. I hope your garden is soon full of blooms again for you as it's been a long, hard winter hasn't it?
Thanks JERRY--I have been doing a lot of that sort of dreaming lately. I am ready for a colour other than brown now. Thank you too, EILEEN--I sure do hope that some kind of flower will soon open in the allotments too. it has indeed been a long, dreary and hard winter here indeed. I have broccoli's and broadbeans above ground on my windowsill.
Beautiful blooms Sjoerd! I particularly like the Ipomoea "Sunrise Serenade", it is very unusual. Thank you for the burst of color on this rainy winter morning!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful flower photos Sjoerd. It helps curb the spring fever pangs doesn't it? Viewing flowers of the past season always gives me a boost, especially when the weather is gloomy and the ground is covered with snow. Here's to a wonderful spring!!
Very lovely, Sjoerd. I remember the backlit Crocosmia leaf from your posting. I missed this when you posted it but saw it on the GS Internet link. We are having flooding rains today so I was backing up and organizing my photographs and enjoying all the beautiful flowers of spring and fall.
Oh, I'd love to put my nose into those Phlox and inhale deeply! We're probably still looking at another month of winter, but I can feel my fingers itching and I've managed to weed a little already.
Thanks very much, FRANK--Me too....me too. Thank you MG--Ahhhhh spring. Yeah! You are welcome NETTY--I like that Ipomoea too, and it is so easy to grow. The contrast of the dreary day and the floweers in the sun were just what I needed that day. Thanks so much, KAY--It sure does help curb the pangs. "Klink"! To a wonderful spring. Thank you GAIL-- Such a day was perfect for fooling with fotos wasn't it? Hi GLENDA-- Yes Memory Lane is a nice place...very cozy and everything is so familiar. I like it. I wish that I could too, DROOPY-- I adore their fragrance. Congrats for having done some weeding already.
picture of the month congratulations sjoerd. those are wonderful pictures, really spectacular. i had been so busy, i couldn't vote for the picture of the month. those are flowers i haven't seen in these parts of the world. thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much, GF--for your nice comments. You are right those flowers are not common in your part of the world, but I could imagine that some of them might grow well there. Thanks again for taking the trouble to most a remark.
Good news Sjoerd - I found seeds for 'Sunrise Sunset' here yesterday and bought a packet. I'm also trying Sweet Peas again this year. Do you see how you inspire me?
