So I had a week of no interenet whatsoever!! It was not too bad, though I missed everyone. Of course it was after I had to start coming home because I was busy doing one thing or another, and the time went so fast!!!

Anyway I went to the carribean, where we visited....

    Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Ocho Rios I have to say, was my most favorite stop. The people were so friendly, and the atmosphere of the island itself was amazing. We went on an excursion that consisted of climbing Dunns River Falls.

My son did so well and he didn't panic except when he thought it was too deep that he'd have to swim, though there was only one part where he would have to even remotely swim, but I had him the entire time. No bad slips or falls and it was so much fun, at least to me it was lol

After the falls we went to Chukka where we would go horseback riding into the ocean!! I thing this was the best ever experience of them all!! and the horses seemd to enjoy themselves about in cooling off in the ocean as well

I am afraid I don't have a picture of us in the ocean itself as my camera was not allowed to come with us.

After we went to jamaica we went to Grand Cayman, where we actually had to take a tender from our ship to get to shore, because the water was too shallow to port. It was a nerve wracking experience for me but it was alright in any case. On the cayman island we went to the turtle farm where we learned a little about the turtles and how they helped breed and grow their population and we were able to take pictures and even hold some of the younger turtles!!

then we went to see the dolphins and play with them. We got a dolphin named lucky who had been trained a little more than the others and he could do a jumping trick which he enjoyed showing off even when his trainer didn't ask him to show off. He was so smart and awesome and loved the attention he got from all of us, :)

Last island is Cozumel Mexico where we went to see the mayan ruins and learned quite a bit in our hour and a half time there! I won't bore with the details but the area that we went to was centered around life and birth, and rebirth. There was a lot to learn and a lot more to find out if we got the chance

Enjoyed going along. Right now a Caribbean cruse sounds wonderful with our temps in the 20 degree range. The turtle hatchery would have been right up my alley. The pic's of those little Lager Head turtles are wonderful. I would love to visit a Mayan ruin someday. Thanks for the great pic's. :stew1:

I have said many times that I'd never go on a cruise BUT I'd go on the one you went on. :smt045
I would love to have seen everything you saw and experience it for myself.
Please, if you have the time, we'd all love to see more photographs of your vacation. They cheer us up no end on cold, wet and dismal days. :-D

Your photos brought back so many happy memories! We cruised and visited Jamaica, and did a white-water raft down a river. When we were in the Caymans we tried snorkeling, but found that the sea bottom was just sand and no corals, so we laid on the beach and got a great tan. Then when we went to Cozumel, we saw the Mayan ruins and went to a concert featuring local musicians.
It sounds as if you had a wonderful trip! More photos would be appreciated if you have the time to post. Thanks for sharing your vacation with us!

What a great vacation you had. The pics that you posted were good and reflect your fun.
Of all the pics, I especially enjoyed the ones of the old ruins. I have a interest in them. I once spent six months in Mexico traipsing around from one place to another and enjoying the various holidays there.

I have not been to any ruins around Cancun. Can you tell a little about those?

Anyway Shaw, thanks for the delightful foto's and commentary.

These ruins are actually from Cozumel, and they are designed for the people who were in the top of the hierarchy. There were no sacrifices in this area as it is said to be worshiping life and life after death and childbirth. There were a few graves there, and they found some skeletons in some of the work places where they got their stones from, believing they were hiding from something.

Their disappearance is still a mystery to most people, though I'm sure they were slaughtered by the Spaniards when they went to claim the land. but that's my own opinion from what I've already learned in history. Lol. I don't know TOO much about the area though but it was nice to learn a lot about the ruins themselves :). They even had an eight mile long road stretching the whole island! Though I was told on the mainland there was one that was 100+ miles long and perfectly straight!! They were obsessed with math and the position of the sun and moon, and knew exactly how far away the moon was without any technology we have today. They were amazing people.
