That second photograph is amazing. It catches the determination and concentration in the whole of the body line. Love the green frog!!!!
Awww I love sheepdogs. Such kind dogs and truly the farmer's best friend. My parents have two at home Sheppy and Jinx. Froggy's cute also!
It was Pete's dad I was watching. Pleat, owned and handled by Scott Glen of Alberta, Canada came in a respectable third place. He was the 2004 National Champion and he was on the Canadian team at the World Trial in Ireland last year. This year top honours went to Alisdair MacRae (a native of your country, Eileen) and a dog named Star. Alisdair has won the US Nationals so many times I'm sure no one is surprised by his win today. Scott also had another dog in sixth place today, Sweep. He was also reserve champion in the nursery finals with a dog named Mick. He had a good week I'd say. muddy
Oops sorry Muddy I don't know why I said Pete's son when I knew it was Pete's dad!!!! So pleased that Pleat achieved 3rd place. It certainly sounds as though Scott had a good competition. I used to be an avid fan of 'One Man and His Dog' - so sad that they no longer show anything like that any more. We still get a chance to see sheepdog trials once a year at the Royal Highland Show. This year in Kinross in Perthshire we had the Scottish Sheepdog Trials. Ist was I.M. Brownlie with Bess. 2nd was Mrs J Hill with Tess 3rd was JJ Templeton with Ted. A really terrific competition. :-D
We keep track of your trials over there as well and we hire UK judges for many of our events especially the more prestigious events. At the finals we had Aled Owen of Wales and Ray Edwards of England plus two judges from the States. We used to get One Man and his Dog on cable tv and I have many episodes on tape. It is a pity that the interest waned. Muddy
