I've got new plants! I haven't been plant shopping much this year, and these give me lots of pleasure already. Overview: A golden Helichrysum, they're everlasting: Variegated spring flowering Phlox: A white Campanula and the blue I forgot the name of: Australian Geranium, it's tiny with white flowers. I love the brown foliage. The tiny pink Silene is a sight when it's in bloom: Some Dianthus, a yellow-blooming Saxifraga and a New Zealand beauty I also forgot the name of. Anybody know? My darling husband found a very dark Penstemon: We also got our clammy claws on an Arisaema candidissima and a couple of red Meconopsis, but they are so small they're hardly visible. This is a Paeonia "Golden Crown", an Itoh-hybrid and difficult to get hold of. A friend picked it up in Haugesund and brought it to me. I've got big expectations for this one: Now I need to get the stash planted, if it would only stop raining for a couple of hours.
OO NICE!!! I have the white campanula that you've just bought Droopy and the bees love it!! It started off as a small plant like yours (2 years ago) and now it's about 2' x 2' and almost glows in the dark. Lovely collection of goodies you have there. :-D
Thanks eileen. We've got a few Campanula out there, and I especially like them for their long blooming period. I've tried several minis before, but they disapper after a few years, so I'm hoping this one will be a stronger, more lasting addition.
There's nothing like new plants to perk one up. They look promising for pretty blooms in the future. I'm awaiting daylilies myself. Happy planting. Gardengater
Thanks toni. They won't look good for another couple of years, but at least they are here in my garden, and I can care for them and watch them grow and prosper. Hopefully.
Oh me, oh my!...Well, it took me a couple of minutes to get control odf my boistrous chuckling when I saw your opening line with that ikkle Snoopy doing his dance. Lordy...I had to dry the teaers from my eyes. You know how it is when something strikes your funny-bone. A person laughs so hard and much, it's difficult to get a grip. Whew! ok...I've gotten a grip and a breath now...mostly. I know that feeling of happiness very well. I have it every time I leave a Garden Center. ...but your score was truly a major one. Just LOOK at all those goodies! Gad! Is that a tinge of green I feel forming around my edges? ...Yes, I believe it is. I must say that for me it was that dark Penstamon that your man found. I could use a few of those myself to go with the malvas and the purple and white penstamons that I have growing in a clump. The Geranium with the brown leaves looks curious. I would like very much to see a close-up of the Helichrysum when it's in full bloom. Of course the Paeonia "Golden Crown" also requires being photographed and shown on here. Will it be next year before it blooms? Perhaps longer? Well miss, you really did make a good haul there. I hope that you were able to get those in the ground today. Take care and get planting!
I am green with envy too Droopy! I've never seen a variegated Phlox now I MUST have one! LOL And what I would do for that dark Penstemon! And that Peony...
What a shopping spree it was for you Droopy. Congrats! I hope you can find the time to get them in the ground. I love them all but I have to say that blue Australian Geranium is my favorite in this bunch. So happy for you. Please post pics once you get them in the ground please! Thanks for sharing, you made my day!
shopping spree I think the blue is a caryopteris -- (different from coryopsis -- not sure on spelling of either) The blue is a late summer blooming and gets vibrant color. Keep us posted.
Thanks all, I'm still dancing. The blue perennial wasn't a Caryopteris. I'll find out once I get time to leaf through the books, or get a visit from mother.
