Should I cut back 'Six Hills Giant' Nepeta after 1st bloom?

    And if so, by how much? Does anyone else grow this catmint? It get rather leggy after it's first flush of bloom in June to mid July.

    Worked as sole caretaker of a HUGE xeriscaped berm, were several of these plants, among a few thousand others! Would bloom, get ratty looking until the next flush began, just "dead headed" old blossoms in meantime to make the plants look good, keep them somewhat bushy in appearances. Was a job but well worth the effort! Is a good idea to cut these nepata's back to 6-8 inches tall in spring, removes unsightly spent stalks and new growth will thank you for it. Are LOVELY garden additions. DO enjoy yours..

    Hi Weeds n seeds--Thanks for the advice. I have trimmed it back & I am now watching to see what it will do.
