    hey guys,

did an experiment this year of growing my peppers indoors. pepperoncini and thai dragons.

plants are doing well but are about 3-4 ft high.

I'm getting flowers but no peppers.

I'm pretty confident that the peppers are self setting.

should I have pinched the peppers lower to force them to not grow so tall?

    thanks for any tips.

Hmmm. I haven't pinched mine out at all, and they have made stocky plants with more chillis and peppers than I have ever achieved, and I mean ever. This year I grew them in large pots of good quality compost, and have them outside in a very sunny position, keep them well watered and fed once in a while. I wonder if yours are growing so tall as they are indoors and are reaching for the light? Sometimes, if we mollycoddle plants and over feed and water, they grow lush at the expense of flowers and fruit.

When did the blooms start ? I have never tried those types but most peppers do not have to be hand pollinated. They usually are fine on their own. Occassionally they will not set fruit with the first blooms but as the weather warms they start producing. They do well in warm climates. Are your temps OK for them?
Oops, Sorry I just reread your post. You are trying them indoors? Then the reason for no fruit is probably not enough sun. They need direct sunlight to bear properly.

    Thanks Guys.

Ej, yes saw a friends plants when I was in UK last week and thats why I asked as they were short and stocky.

mart, currently in south facing window getting full sun for most of the day. been flowering for about 4 weeks now.

I'm thinking, its a case of having to put the outside in the sun and wind to help polination. then bring them back in when it starts to cool off.

protect them indoors over the winter ready for next year.

Also got some from the same seeding outside in the garden and not seeing any fruit on them yet. So Will continue the experiment and see how things go.

    thanks for the advice
