For the last 48 hours we have had wind and rain. But not just any old wind, as you will have seen from Eileens travels, we have had gales that have uprooted trees, taken rooves off houses and caused flooding and structural damage everywhere. And still it goes on! Today I thought the winds were slowing up, but tonight our windows are creaking and the trees are really really moving around. There are fences down, debris in the road and repair men visiting different houses putting on aerials, roof tiles and making chimneys safe! I am getting really really fed up with it now.

Sorry, just wanted to let off some steam! :-?

EJ I know exactly how you feel. I thought we'd seen the last of the gales because it quietened down for about an hour today. WRONG!!! The winds seemed to have just been gathering strength for the next onslaught. :(

Hope it quiets down soon for both of you. Until then stay inside safe and sound.

It was bin collection day today in the village and as soon as our wheelie bins were emptied we, the neighbours and I, all went out to put them back into our gardens before the wind hit them. TOO LATE!!! We were all scuttling about like demented rats crossing and re-crossing the road, leaning down to pick up our bins and then chasing after them again as they got whipped out of our hands by the gale!!! It took about ten minutes before we all, panting and sweating, got a hold of them. What a pity no-one thought of taking piccies 'cause we must have looked soooo ridiculous  especially Jane as she was wearing a skirt and trying to grab her bin while holding on to her modesty at the same time!! :D :D

They are saying rain all weekend here. The 3rd one in a row that we have had rain. Then turning cold next week. Typical Jan weather then. Lows in the teens and highs in the 20's and 30's.

Not seeing anything of that magnitude here but my brother tells me they are having a right time of it back home in Ireland too. Fishing boats are disappearing too, a tragic incident occured 3 days ago which claimed the whole crew of one of them. Very sad :(

More rain here this weekend too. Hope we don't get a lot of wind. It always rains on my day off, or right before them. I tried pulling some weeds this morning and my beds are still too wet.

We are having strong north west winds today and it is bitterly cold. The only good thing is that the sun is shining. I wanted winter weather, boy oh boy did I get it!!

Tie everything down and hang in there... wow, wild weather! It's so calm here I almost feel guilty about it, though we do have a little snow today to prove it is winter. LOL at the mental picture of everyone running around to catch the bins!
