dr and I were working on the front porch and I saw a butterfly. Of course, by the time I got the camera it had flown away. So I wandered around the yard looking at things and wondering what I could take a picture of. I saw a few signs of spring.
There are buds here. Glenda says it's a tulip tree.

I think this one is althea. There are more than one of them. They are all getting leaves now.

This is the magnolia tree. I'm not sure if these are buds or new leaves.

This is the flowering quince, still flowering.

I've been digging along the front porch recently and finally got it finished. I'm going to plant sweet peas and morning glories and maybe cypress vine or cardinal vines along the porch. dr has been putting up fence along the front for them to climb. I have twine to string after they reach the top of the fence. The fence actually does two things. It is something for the vines to grow up. And it is an airlock. Chance loves to dash out the front door ahead of us if she can and then she leads us a merry chase before heading back home. So when this project is finished she will only be able to get to the porch. There will be a door or gate out into the yard. She will also be able to sit with us when we go sit on the front porch. A couple of pictures of the work in progress.

I have the same signs of spring here in east Texas. So hopefully that means spring is just around the corner. Dooley, that is a neat idea with the fence for your climbers and for your 'runner'. Chance will love being able to sit on the porch with you. Looking forward to more pictures. :stew2:

I'm looking forward to seeing that tulip tree when it blooms. :D You've done great work along the porch. I'm certain it will look and smell heavenly once the plants are up. I hope Chance will like it too.

Chance was trying to get out to see what dr was doing this morning. It was raining so we couldn't do much out there. Maybe we'll get it finished tomorrow. dooley
