Isn't there a limit on how many colds a person can get in one year. This is at least the fourth one I have had if not the fifth since the first of December. Woke up yesterday with a scratchy throat and was home from work before 2:00 feeling rotten. Spent most of the night sitting up in bed tring to breath when I wasn't blowing my nose. Am home today and have spread it to my husband so should be a very unpleasant next few days.
You sound like you have allergies like I do Polly.I was told by a Dr.If you have more than 2 or 3 colds a year you were suffering from allergies and to go to an allergy specialist Polly.
Polly, I hope you and hubby are feeling much better soon. Your symptoms sound like what is called 'the crud' around here....by doctors and patients alike. Often it is also called an upper respiratory infection, usually viral so antibiotics won't work on it. I used to get 3-4 a year when I was volunteering in the library when Amanda was in elementary school. Sometimes it can start off as alergies and then turn on you before you know it. Mucinex will take care of the nasal and chest congestion, not only make your cough more productive but it also just makes the stuff go away....it's magic :-D There are some anti-viral meds hitting the market now I think, you could call your local pharmacist and ask.

Colds and coughs here. Son and I have it. Daughter and hubby seem to have gotten away with it.....so far. I do suffer with hayfever and I fear this cold is just going to blend in with the runny nose, sore eyes and itchy mouth. Oh such joy!
We have a product over here called 'First Defence.' It's a nasal spray and you use it at the first signs of a cold, flu or hayfever. It's around £6 - £7 but worth every penny. I hope you feel better soon Polly as there is nothing worse than a cold especially at this time of year.
I hope you and your husband get over this cold quickly. I'm getting quite stuffy myself and so is Ivy (my 3 year old)
