Everyone here still remembers when this stone head washed-up on our shores in the Netherlands sixty years ago. Seen above are the mayor of Scheveningen and the chief of police, among other dignitaries. There was an Easter Island expert from Scandinavia who came to check it out and confirm its origin. The news crews covered it for days. Ocean currents are so odd and stronger than I realised. I never heard how long it took for it to make its underwater journey. I’ll bet Jane is is jealous of this.
What an amazing story Sjoerd. I would love to know just how it managed to get to the Netherlands from Easter Island. What happened to it after the mayor and police chief examined it?
Maybe it was made by the artist "Edo van Tetterode" and left on the beach as a prank? reference Hope I didn't spoil a joke. I'm a bit of a skeptic about amazing things LOL
From what I know,, these are made of stone - stone sinks,, not floats ! Without a major ocean upheaval how did it get there considering the currents etc ??
Yesterday’s posting was an April Fools thread. You can’t fool all the people all the time. Thanks for the link, Daniël.
Hahaha, good one! I would probably not fall for that yesterday, but I believed it today until I saw your confession.
Chuckle. Eileen that was fun. It was not a joke on just one person by another person— it was an April Fools’ joke on a national scale. Authorities were involved as were the media. It was a good one.
Sjoerd, that was a mega-prank! "Good one" is quite an understatement! Eileen, our Easter Island statue is now right outside our front door. A local stopped by to tell us we shouldn't have a "pagan" symbol and should remove it. For Gorg's safety he is now closer to the house, holding a stick of dynamite! (Joking, since my husband didn't want explosives that close to the house.)
Thanks Jane. I was wondering how your head was— explosive, eh? Dynamite....what a blast. Did that thing ever get vandalized?
My goodness Jane, what kind of neighbourhood do you live in ! Are there more of those creatures about there.
