I have several cherry tomato plants. They are doing good, producing lots of tomatoes but the skin is splitting so what do I do to prevent this from happening? Also, the tomatoes are smaller much smaller than the first.I need help. Thanks

Rosebud splitting is usually caused either by irregular watering or by over-watering during periods of rapid growth.
If your tomatoes have gone through a dry spell and you try to make up for it with frequent waterings then the inside of the fruits will plump up faster than the outside can stretch and grow. As a result the outer skin of the tomato splits open or cracks.

    cherry tomatoes

Eileen,Thanks for your reply. We had lots of rain when they first started blooming and putting on tomatoes then a dry spell so I watered them 2 or 3 times a week. They were doing very good then we have been having lots of rain lately and now they are splitting.Well I can't control the weather so I'll just have to except it.They are still good if you get them before they split very much.I'm getting lots of tomatoes this year and it's my first year.
