They have been digging up the yard overnight, looking for grubs. They are getting ready to go into hibernation and are chowing down to get ready for it. The yard is full of divits that looks like a couple dozen really bad golfers have been playing in the yard!
Sorry to hear about your yard Capt. I'm having the very same problem at work! Every morning I have to go around and fix the new damage. It's not fun.
Well we don't have skunks here in Scotland thank goodness. However, our squirrels are digging up the lawn and burying seeds and nuts for the winter. Amazing what you can find growing in your lawn come spring. Let's hope the skunks move on soon CK before your lawn is a complete write off.
No skunks in our neighborhood but squirrels do that here. Late last winter they started getting hungry but couldn't remember exactly where they had buried all their pecans and acorns, my front yard and garden in the back would be pockmarked by little holes every day.
Sorry to hear about your yard Capt. I didn't know they ate grubs, to be honest. Learn something new every day, I guess. Maybe your yard's a gold mind of skunk food, that's something to be proud of, right? Lets hope they find a new yard soon.
We have very large skunks here but I think the ground is too hard for them to dig. Unless it's a garden that's already dug. Our yard isn't like that though. dooley
Oh, sounds like a sore trial, Capt Kirk. Your foul language is excused. Here our magpies store food in the strangest places. Often when moving plants a lot of their store falls out. Though whether they would actually eat the mouldy cat food I really can't tell.
