Can someone please identify this flower for me. My MIL brought me seeds back from Kentucky a couple of years ago and last year I just tossed the seeds in an empty part of my flower bed. They didn't bloom last year but this year this is what they did. My MIL doesn't remember what they are due to her having dementia. Identity would be greatly appreciated.

Aren't those Sweet Williams? Dianthus barbatus. They're lovely biennials up here where I live. :D They often self-seed so once sowed we can have them for years without sowing or planting again.

Mr great grandma called them "Sweet Billies" :-D My sister and I loved them when we were little because they were like mini boquets. We'd play wedding with them :D I'd been thinking about getting some this spring. After seeing your post I know I will!!
