I was cleaning and weeding an area in the yard for the past week trying to prepare a new bed for planting. It's pretty big and very very very over grown with vines and weeds that are incredibly stubborn, that's why it's been taking so long. Anyway, today while working I noticed something that looked like a pretty big worm out of the corner of my eye. I turned my head and look what I saw... ( photo / image / picture from FlowerFreak22's Garden ) I snatched it up into a flower pot and took pictures of it. Hubby says it is an adder...but as you are in the states, I don't know. I love snakes, a nice specimen. Do you know what type of snake it was, apart from an angry one?
I think it's a Garder Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis). Never seen a gray one though. It could be a young or old one.
What a handsome snake FF. I do love to see reptiles in the garden as they dispose of so many 'unwanted visitors' for us.
Shivery feelings here... In theory I like snakes... I guess... but I'm real happy I've never EVER seen one in my yard.
It was actually pretty docile for the stuff I put it through. It didn't try to strike or anything not that it's poisonous, but still. It was about a foot long. I also found some other animals too. I found a Brown Skink (Scincella lateralis) and 3 Eastern American Toads (Bufo americanus). It was a bit of an animal day. Oh now those I like a lot! You sure ran into a lot of critters today, Jon! You know, I haven't seen any frogs around here for a while. I hear them though.
I'm not fond of snakes, even though they are pretty, but do like frogs and toads a lot. Great slug eaters.
