Well friends its time for me to come asking more questions, and so I come to the best.
I have my snake plant which you all have seen and its my oldest plant I haven't killed.
As you can see in photo its getting to big for the pot.
I would like to break it up to get 2 plants, but I don't want to either damage it and I not sure how to go about it.
    So I ask for help.
    Thanks Ed

Is is possible to kill a snake plant? One day while I was watering mine, I broke a "leaf" off. I dug a hole with my finger and stuck the "leaf" in and it rooted.

This is mine blooming. The scent was sweet in the evening. I could only sit beside for a short time. Very fragrant.

I have a pot with a hoya next to my snake plant and let it vine around it.

I think you could divide your snake plant with no problems.

    Thanks for the info.
I got the white things last Summer but not the colorful blooms you got.
I will give it a try maybe tomorrow.
    Thanks,Ed

Ed, don't be nervous about dividing your nice old snake plant. It will forgive you and be happy to have more room around it's roots.

You have reminded me that I have several that I need to divide one of these days...

Thanks for your well wishes, but I get nervous and shaky when I start working on them.
The only thing I have ever done besides watering and breaking off a leaf last Summer which has rooted and gave forth a baby.
Will let everyone know the outcome tomorrow night.
    Thanks again

Don't be nervous Ed... like the others said, it's almost impossible to kill them and just think how happy it will be having some "room".

Ed, Don't fret! My husband did not like gardening until I told him "don't worry, there are plenty more if you kill that one" in reference to helping in the garden (his dad was a perfectionist and no one could do anything any better than him....WHATEVER!) He was soooooooo worried that he would ruin something for me . When you need to transplant that snake plant, gently turn it upside down, pull/pry off the pot and "tease" the roots and soil loose. Take a knife or garden pruners (whatever you have or are comfortable using) and cut it in half or thirds, if you have enough and repot it, IF you break some of the roots, which is very likely, just trim them off at the break, and repot the divisions. You will do fine. Don't forget to water it in when you are done.
