    I was so happy when this little guy consented to pose on my patio. Guess it's very apparent why this is a Snout Butterfly!

    I guess with that extra long nose and then the length of his proboscis he should be able to reach quite a distance into tubular flowers to feed. Lovely piccie Bethie. :-D

    Oh My Gosh! :eek: He kind of grows to be cute after a second look.
    Why were the really really pretty ones SHE and the one with the big nose HE!?! 8)

    That is really pretty. I saw a real pretty butterfly this morning and it would not be still enough to get anything more than a blurry pic. So congrats on that great pic! :setc_083: I really like it when you get the unusual pics of different insects and animals you don't see so often.

    that butterfly is something special. Lovely photo. we have very few butterflies in the western cape (south africa) There never was, nothing to do with modern times. They do not seem to like the vegetation.

    Thats a great up-close shot. It definatley is different from the norm....But the world would be a dull place if everything was the same.
