Yesterday morning the weather map had us in the area that would receive less than an inch....last night at 10 we had been moved into the 1-3 inch area and the last thing the weatherman said last night at the end of his portion of the news program was "some scattered areas may get more" Sooooooo, I went to sleep repeating the words...let us be in the 'scattered area' Woke up this morning to 5 inches of snow on the ground and it is still lightly snowing.

You know somewhere under that snow I bet there is a garden. 5 inches is quite an overshoot from less than an inch.

Fred does look rather handsome with his layer of white stuff. :-D We've got gales and torrential rain with, sometimes, hail or snow too. Looks as though that truck managed to get the majority of the snow to you after all Toni. ;)

    Toni,
I sympathize. Want to help me gang up on the weather forecasters? Our local idiot said we had a 50% chance of "light flurries." Well, in my book, 2 1/2 inches ain't a light flurry!
The hens are bumfuzzled--they've only seen snow once before in their lives, and you know chickens--short memory spans. I had to crunch out this morning to open the coop and give them water and they refused to go outside. They are in their interior coop, playing solitaire and doing each other's nails.
At least we are getting some sunshine this afternoon, and a promise of above-freezing tomorrow. If this keeps up much longer, I'm moving south!

We received an inch and a half but there was a small coating of ice pellets under it. We didn't go out until 10:30 am. There was no school because the roads were to slippery for the buses. It's pretty clear now. dooley

WHAT?? And mess up my snow??? Not on your Aunt Nelly. ;)

I have spent the last 4 hours sitting in front of the livingroom window knitting, watching the snowfall in larger and larger flakes and then come to an end a few minutes ago.
The clouds are splitting apart, leaving more and more blue sky showing and the flaming evil daystar is making it's presence known...so my lovely snow day has come to an end. Tomorrow will be our first time about freezing (32F) since Monday afternoon.

Now the clouds have all but cleared out and here comes the sun.

WOW!--Now, that IS snow. it looks pretty in your garden...but with the sun, it really is a pretty postcard.
Make the most of it, for it shall be gone all too quickly.

Seeing all this snow, it's just so different from my area... I mean, for almost 8 to 9 months a year, we here don't even get a drop of rain (it only rains from mid June to late August, and that too if the monsoon season is in full swing, otherwise nothing)...

So if I was in your place, I'll collect all that snow (as it seems easer to collect then water), and dump it into some deep pit so it would become a whole year's water supply! :)

Your garden looks beautiful covered in snow. I am like you Toni, I get excited by snow because we don't get it very often. We had 5" last month and I was thrilled...now I am ready for Spring. ;)

The sun is out, temperature has risen above 32degrees...first time since Tuesday morning just before the front moved through.
Won't be long before everything has that ugly melting appearance.

But there is hope for more of almost the same next Tuesday and Wednesday ;)

We will be getting out in an hour or so. Lunch, grocery store and Dunn Bros for a coffee and back home before the sun sets and the temp drops again.

They predicted 3-5 inches of snow down here. I wished it would all just go up north to Toni's area. Well... IT WORKED! We didn't even get a single snowflake. It was cold and icy... but no snow.

Cheryl, never fear you might get another chance for the ice/sleet/snow combo in a couple of days. The system coming is another one of the McFarland Signatures so there is still a chance ;)
