It's snowing this morning, and I took these pictures. The snow is beautiful and I enjoy the winter. Deputy also loves the snow. He does however hate hunting season, as he needs to ware the vest for those hunters that can't tell the difference between a Yellow lab and a deer. I heard a story about a woman that was horseback riding and some hunter shot the horse right out from under her. (true story) I used to hunt, and enjoyed the time in the woods, but never had a problem deciding if it was a deer that I was watching, or a man or a dog. Anyway the snow is pretty, and Deputy looks cute in his vest. and I thought maybe you might enjoy them both also.
Would you mind if I make the view out of your window my wallpaper so I can enjoy it too. That is my idea of the perfect view. Poor Deputy, he looks like he really wants that vest gone.
Spectacular view from your computer window Tom. If I had that view I may not get any work done at all. It must be awful to have your dog (or horse) shot by mistake. Did it happen that often that they had bring in the vests? Deputy looks undeniably cute in it. P.S it always interests me to see GardenStew on another monitor, especially from abroad. You get so used to seeing it on your own screen.
We heard on the news last evening, not too far from here, that a man shot his grandson, while they were hunting. Of coarse they play up those stories when they happen. I think the boy survived, but can you imagin the guilt the Grandfather must feel. I don't think that it is common, but I don't want to take a chance. Deputy wanders about as he pleases, and sometimes he gets out to the road, and there is a peace of land across from us that is open to hunters. Most hunters are good folks, but there are some that get a gun in their hands and they think they are Dirty Harry and want to shot something, anything.
By the way, Frank, does the Stew look the same on my monitor as what you put out over there? Your right, Mimi can't seem to understand how I spend so much time sitting here, The view out the window is much enjoyed. Tom
Yes the exact same. I notice that you are using an 800 x 600 screen resolution which I designed the site to fit within primarily. I have a 1024 x 768 screen resolution and have a right-hand column that you wouldn't see.

Lovely view, perfect 'wintertime postcard' type trees. It's always the nicest when it's still a novelty - your dog is adorable in his coat.
That is a lovely view there Tom. Deputy looks cute in that vest! Last fall a women (somewhere in southern Ontario) was shot by a hunter while taking a walk. They now tell everyone to wear bright orange when its hunting season. How scary!
Our old Lab, Blue, used to love the snow and even had his own sledge. No not a real one but a big piece of cardboard that he used to slide down hills on and then carry it back to the top for another go!!! He hated being left out when the children were having fun. Deputy certainly looks good in his coat - no excuse for mistaking him for a deer while he's wearing it thankfully.
When I first looked at the pic, i thought Deputy wanted you to come out an play,, my first thought anyways,,lol. But the vest is a must during hunting season. I lived in the states an 2 of the states i lived in during hunting season there was always so many people shot at by accident, or their houses got in the way of a deer, an the house got the shot. yes make sure he wears his vest. Here we have a reflector vest for our dog, because our driveway looks like a side road an well we get a few people thinking there is another way across the fjørd, unfortunatly they think its thru our farm.. since our dog is black, an its dark here now all but 3 hours,, its a must for balder incase a car comes thru.
Wow Bitta, 3 hours of daylight, That must put you something like 65° to 70° North latitude. We are at 46 .1 North Latitude and 89.2 West Longitude. Our days are nearly 9 hours of daylight, and yet I bet our weather is similar. Extreme lows of -35° to -40° F and snow depths of 3 to 3 & 1/2 feet. Tom
LOL Calamaar,, I'm not sure of the exact latitude but i do know we are like 66 or 67 deg lat. as far as temps goes,, well Lofoten sits on the Gulf Steam an we are actually warmer than southern Norway. But, an i mean But,, we get that artic air that just freezes you inside an out. so our temps might go to -20C or -4F but the wind chill will be -40C and if i'm not mistaken both C an F are the same at that point. we get tons of snow,, last year we had over 6 ft of snow fall in 4 days, and that was just the beginning, everyday for a little more than 2 months it snowed at one point during the day or night. come 1st week of Dec an it will be dark here 24 hours a day.
