A Snowy Owl 'invasion' has been in our local news lately. http://www.ecanadanow.com/science/2014/12/30/snowy-owls-invade-ontario-again/
I have on occasion seen one of these beautiful birds but have never had my camera handy. This morning I had my cell phone in my pocket when I walked the dog and was lucky enough to see one.

The lighting isn't great as it was just barely sunrise, but what a magnificent bird!

WOW Netty I'm so glad you had your cell 'phone with you on your walk!! I've only ever seen these magnificent birds in zoos or sanctuaries. How I would love to have been with you when you spotted this one.

Thank you for sharing a bird that isn't around here, and that I've never seen before. You sure are alert so early in the morning!

A great bird, reminds me when I was on a snowy owl watch on a Sat. of each month when I lived in Calgary. We covered a large area of farm fields counting them.

Oh, you are so lucky to have seen one and was able to take a picture of it. The only time I saw was when I barely missed it one night while driving.

Netty...how fortunate for you to see one. I have heard owls around here but have never seen any of them. They all seem to be good at getting rid of mice, and other small rodents. Now I have never even thought about using my cell phone for a picture of birds, thank you for showing us your beautiful bird.
