Thanks :) Yes, it is a japanese maple. It is growing in a pot at the back of the rockery around my pond.

I just love the colour and delicacy of the japanese maple, my Mum got one off the daily mail and it has grown really well, hers is in a rockery in a pot also, it was such a small fragile looking sapling when she got it, I bought one last year from Wilkinsons and it has done very poorly, it was a graft (not sure why) and everything above the graft died and there are a few weak looking new growth branches under it, I am not expecting it to survive , I might treat myself next year and purchase a new one from a garden centre.

You have so much colour left in your garden whereas mine is mainly all browns and greens. Your kaffir lilies are beautiful and the datura looks so clean and fresh. My favourite has to be the photograph of the spiders webs - fascinating things aren't they?

Thanks Eileen, there are still plenty of other plants still flowering, begonias, roses, marigolds, geranium, canna lily. Must be the late burst of summer that has kept them going.
Oh by the way everyone, forgot to say that the Datura is down to Eileen who kindly sent me some seeds a couple of years ago. I have two plants, only one has provided me with flowers this year. THANKS EILEEN they are beautiful.

Must be beautiful in your yard right now. Is the autumn crocus on your picture the same one that gives us saffron? I'd love to be able to grow that here, as it's so expensive to buy saffron in the stores.

I certainly have been out in the garden EJ, have spent most of the weekend out there and managed to get quite a bit done, planting out sweet william and polyanthus which I have grown from seed. So satisfying!
Kasey I really don't know which one gives the saffron, but I imagine it would not be this one as saffron is yellow and probably comes from the yellow crocus.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments about my garden.

Beautiful photos...especially love the first one!
The spider web is interesting, as long as the spiders stay outside. Thanks for sharing with us! ;)

You want the Crocus sativus. You can read about it in Wikipedia.
