While sitting at the reading table the news reader on the radio mentioned that cold weather and some form of winters’ precipitation was on the way. I almost missed that. Looking up from the table, I saw this: Just look at that sky ! It looks like they weren’t kidding. Oh dear, it looks like we will get a dusting of snow. Later we were presented with this scene out in the harbour: Only one thing for it mates— a trip to the lottie. we were the second ones down our path. The garden gate was somewhat less than welcoming. A cold overview over a section of the veggie garden quadrants: I began refreshing the the bird food and heard ewwww’s coming from the general direction of the greenhouse. I thought that she has stepped in some oozy mud or sommink. I hoofed over to see what was going on. The Bride was laughing, saying she was just exaggerating whilst extending her arm towards the greenhouse. “Take a look, jongen”. There was a huge rat in there as dead as a doornail. He was up by the door, far away from the trap. The trap was sprung, so I believe that it had gotten a glancing blow to the side of its head from the trap as it slammed shut. speaking of rats, do you recognise these snow impressions?: There were other traces of wildlife: I am wondering if these are from a weasel-type…such as an ermine or something like that. Originally we had planned to harvest the last of the winter leeks and removing the fleece from the strawbs. It all looked so good that we decided to do those chores once the snow melts and the temps warm a bit. Once back home it was cocoa and marshmallows to re-warm ourselves as we considered the afternoon’s points of interest.
Chuckle Daniel—I think that you would like it here….you would begin with two friends. Do you know what is interesting— a few weeks ago a food truck appeared in our harbour. The chap was from your state. It’s a small world after all. Willow— you can often get four seasons in one day!
Wow beautiful pics. What a lovely area and background . Architecture on steeple and homes . It looks like your landscape has caught up with the snow in the US. Peaceful snow pics of the garden area and the greenhouse looks great. You’re lucky all your power wires are underground. Many states here should follow your countries infastructure. This is beautiful Sjoerd. And congrats on the rat...one less to munch on your plants. Tracks are so much fun to see in the snow. I love the happy face on the greenhouse. It is good that you covered everything earlier. Are your dafs still poking up?
Hiya Mel. Thanks for your reaction. There is one less of those munching monsters. There are actually crops that I can no longer grow because of rats. They are awful. The daffs are still there but growing very slowly. Thanks for asking.
