http://www.motherearthnews.com/diy/diy- ... z2ShpwW4Jm Some guy made this cool patio table from a scrap iron grate that says "DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE" on it... I have zero skills at welding, but I love his table.
That was a pretty sweet table that he built. I added that site to my favorites and will check out more of those articles.
If I knew any welding skills, I would try to make something similar to it. If I ever FIND a grate similar to that, I will save it, and see if I can get a friend to build something for me.
Haha I stopped in to see what find you found, not what I was expecting but super cool. I am looking for something to put my mammoth sunflowers in, looking for insperation...
Mrs Galeassi, Sunflowers have deep roots, and need lots of rich soil, something we do not have much of here. I would suggest putting them directly into the ground, and giving them lots of peat moss and composted manure. As soon as I get hold of some, I want to try growing them again. They just do not like the rocky red clay that I have here.
Night Owl I live on beach land... its all sand for the most part. I seen some giant galvanized tubs at my job and was thinking one of those. Our grass is odd, its patchy and actually grows in the sand. Never seen anything like it... lol... it might be able to go to ground seems like some stuff grows in it.
You may not be able to grow the sunflowers on beach sand. However, there are dwarf varieties that may tolerate tubs ? Since I cannot get them to grow more than a tiny bit, I am not likely the person to ask. You can ask over in the flower forum, perhaps someone there will know more than I do. http://www.reneesgarden.com/articles/gr ... lower.html I saved this website to help me when I am ready to try again. I would love to grow them too. They do not even get 4' tall for me, and are so weak, they fall over when they bloom.
