Dana, one of our neighbors for about 25 years would just come over and ask who I buried out there. But the rest would certainly keep their distance from my yard then.
I've actually done that Christa. Some time ago I got a 'phone call from my daughter saying that one of her ferrets had passed away and she was coming to me so that he could be buried beside other pets we've had. I could see the neighbours curtains twitching but they didn't ask what I was doing. However, the next day their curiosity got the better of them when they saw me erecting a "headstone" over the grave. Now they never ask why I dig holes at odd times.
As a neighbor's illness progressed it prevented him from mowing his lawn. I would mow his lawn periodically. I noticed in his back yard he had several holes in various stages, some filled-in, some empty. I rhetorically commented one day that I knew where he buried the bodies. However, he never refuted the comment. Years have passed, the owner has died and the house now has a new owner but the filled-in holes remain a mystery. I don't know of anybody missing in the neighborhood, but......then again...... Jerry
