Part of it is because I have so much mowing and weeding to keep up with. The other part is because last week my DIL went in to severe preeclampsia, and they had to do an emergency C-section to save her and the Baby. DIL was only 6 1/2 months along, and she had major seizures, swelling, etc that goes with it all. She nearly died on us. She was in ICU and on life-support. DIL was air-lifted to one hospital in the western part of the state, and Baby was air-lifted to another hospital in the eastern part of the state where she still is, and is very fragile. She was only 2 lbs 1 oz at birth last week. Friday, they discharged DIL from the hospital, and they have made a couple trips (nearly 300 miles one way) to see Baby. I have not been able to go yet. Baby is still critical. I hope you are all having nice summers.
How terrible for you and your family. Please accept my sincere sympathy, and hopes that your DIL and the baby recover well. Keep us posted, since we do care and worry about fellow members.
Aww. I am so sorry to hear about your family situation. This is hard all the way around. Fears and worries everyday. Prayers for all of you.
when mine was in the NICU ( ~1month premature ) I was freaking out even tho everyone was saying everything was fine. reading your post gave me goosebumps. I hope it all works out for the best.
What a really worrying time for all concerned - especially your son and daughter in law. I hope your little grand daughter will soon be on the road to recovery. We'll all be thinking of her and your family. Do keep us updated.
What a dangerous thing your dil had to endure. Hopefully things have begun to settle down a bit. Is the baby coming along well?
DIL is recovering from her ordeal. Her bp is still rather high and she is on meds. Baby is still touch and go. She is having problems breathing because she is so premature. We are praying, and have many friends praying for her. We just have to pray and wait and see. Thank you for all the kind thoughts. The kids can only get up there on weekends, because of work and school.
@AAnightowl Forgive me, I only just caught up with your thread. I do hope you daughter in law continues to improve and I am praying for your grandchild that she will continue improve as well. I am thinking of you all.
It is okay Cayuga. DIL has improved, and is doing well. Grandbaby is still hanging on. She has done some growing. She was 2 lbs 1 oz at birth, and is now up to 3 lbs 3 oz, plus a fraction. Her lungs have been very immature, and we have almost lost her several times. I am thankful for her little improvements, and hope she continues to improve. They have had to have her on 100% oxygen, which can cause blindness. They were trying to lower it to see how she does, but DS is at work, and I don't know if she is ready for that yet or not. It has been very hot and steamy here, and I have not done much outdoors for awhile. I hope it cools off soon so I can get back at some of the outdoor work.
I will continue to hold you and your family in my thoughts. I do hope the weather cools where you live. I know whenever I am going through one of life's hard times, it always helps to get outdoors, putter around, weed or just take a walk. I hope the weather cooperates with you. Sending you strength & my compassion.
I'm really pleased to hear that your daughter-in-law is doing well although the stress must be hard on her. I've been thinking about your grandbaby a lot since you posted about her birth. Let's hope she continues to put on weight and that the oxygen can be reduced gradually with no long term effects. Your son and daughter-in-law are in my thoughts.
Nightowl, what an ordeal for you and your family! You are certainly a comfort to your son and his wife, and they must rely on you heavily. This is the time when having family is a blessing, and I'm sure you are a blessing to them. Please keep us posted while we care and worry about you, the baby, and the parents.
