Last fall we were in Lowe's and they had these bags of bulbs at the front door. I went nuts!!! I love bulbs!! I thought black, pink and yellow would make a striking combination!! All 3 packages said "Mid Spring" so I thought the timing would be perfect Black, Yellow, Pink Tulips ( photo / image / picture from stratsmom's Garden ) The yellow ones were WAY early, the pink really fizzled and the black were a little disappointing Oh well, I do love tulips so I'll take whatever I can get! I think they still make a dazzling display in their pot despite not all flowering at exactly the same time. My tulips don't all bloom together either but it means I get to enjoy them for longer that way.
I agree Eileen, I like a L O N G bloom time :-D Our weather has been so weird this year but most of my tulips have been wonderful. Guess they like weird weather
Each flower has it's time, unfortunately they do not coordinate with our schedules. I still like your display. You might try just moving the yellow ones. Maybe next year after a little TLC the red and black will be stronger. Words from the eternal optimist. Jerry
Feed them some bulb food and some bonemeal and cut off any seed pods as soon as the petals drop. Next year they will be even prettier.
I like tulips but I only have daffidols here. Thanks for sharing yours. They were pretty no matter when they bloomed. dooley
Thanks everyone!! I will feed them this year and dead head them soon. They got planted kind of late last year. Fingers crossed they are awesome next year! :-D
