I came across this photo the other day. At first I wasn't sure what I was even LOOKING at......a new breed of dog? A strangely shaped feline?

All I knew was that I wanted to pet them, stroke them, run my fingers through their hair? fur? pelt? whatever.......they looked SO soft!

Imagine my surprise when I discovered what these strange creatures actually ARE!

Ronni, I've seen those at the county fair poultry exhibit. They're called "Silkies" and are very popular. One little girl even explained how she bathes her silky before the show. They are cute as can be, and very docile, but even I draw the line at bathing a chicken!

Silkies. Aren't they cute? I kept a few of them when I had a parakeet flight cage in one of my pet stores. It was silly and cute and the customers loved it.

They are adorable. I never seen that breed of chicken before. I know when my SIL sees them, she will probably want some too.

Silkies make the most excellent of "mothers" especially for fragile poultry such as guinea fowl. They are very protective of their clutch of eggs and their chicks, (whatever they may be).

This is the first time I have heard of or seen silkies. They are funny little creatures aren't they? So fluffy! Thanks for sharing the photo Ronni :)
