These are some pictures of the spider plant that is determined to take over my dining room. I was pulling brown leaves this morning. Chance was very interested in what I was doing. DR took some pictures. See all the little babies growing. Last month it had flowers. It goes outside in summer. One year I forgot to bring it inside and it froze. I thought it was dead but come spring it started growing again. Dooley
Wow, haven't seen one that crowded with babies since the one I had to leave in Florida. That looks great. I have been thinking about finding one. I miss having one, also had one in Florida called Piggyback plant that was cool but haven't seen one around here.
Your spider plant looks so beautiful Dooley!! We call them airplane plants here! I got some babies from Ladybug. Her's is a varigated type. She also has a huge hanging basket of them. She also plants them in her gardens and they come back every year!! I planted the babies she gave me in my gardens this past summer. I hope mine come back as beautiful as her's do! I see your cute teddies peeking around in the pics!!hehehe!!
Great plant Dooley. I wish I could grow one like that. I haven't tried in years. The last one we had never seemed to get many babies - only one or two here and there. You must be keeping that one real happy.
I have one in my planter in the conservatory, but yours looks so much more succulent and green! I have always fancied growing mine in a small ornate bird cage hung from the ceiling in the conservatory, but I have never found anything suitable.
I had it in filtered sun during the summer. In the house it doesn't get direct sun either. It seems to thrive on the heat from the wood stove but doesn't seem to mind the cold either. It's always been in a pot. Maybe I will see if one of the babies will grow in the ground outside this summer. There are so many that I wouldn't miss one. Dooley
Your babies are healthier looking than mine My mother plant is varigated, maybe that makes a difference. My babies are kind of "curly-looking" It is thriving in my office window, despite the cat grazing on it like a salad bar! Deanna :-D
