spring blooming white flower shrub, not fragrant

    I have a very old shrub in my yard which blooms before the forsythia and last till early may,covered in thousands of tiny white flowers which look like a tiny carnation, as blooms fade leaves appear, shrub looks similar to bridal veil but does not droop over and as they do and instead of thousands of single layered white flowers these are like little carnations, no fragrance, shrub is about 5 to 6 foot tall and 4 to 5 foot wide. can anyone please tell me what this beautiful old shrub is
