Sorry, such a brief message, but I was desperate to post a piccy before I was swamped with evening chores.

James and I had a great morning on the plot, and after planting and sowing, we picked the first 4 stems of rhubarb. The plants are getting HUGE and I think I will split at least 2 of them in the autumn. The leeks are still growing well and no sign of bolting yet. They are also huge. And the daffs. Best year by far. I planted lots from the cheap sacks you can get in bulk from places like Lidl, I guess Wallmart type supermarkets. Nothing special, but great for cutting and bringing home. One of the leeks was consumed by Mark in his TexMex creamy chicken and savoury rice and we both enjoyed the rhubarb in a light crumble. Those first stalks were so tender, they hardly needed cooking. Delicious! :)

EJ your leeks look fabulous! I have been watching my Rhubarb carefully for any sign of growth. So far only 4 tiny bits sticking out. I can't wait to have some strawberry rhubarb pie :D

Gee my rhubarb is only about an inch out of the ground!!
I must get Ian to dig up our leeks as I think they're about ready. I didn't think they would come through the winter but they're looking good. Most of my daffs are now flowering and they really cheer up the garden.

Great photo....I always buy the cheaper bulbs now and they come back just fine for me. My rhubarb is not anywhere close to being picked...in fact, it just popped up from the ground a couple weeks ago.

Hey, Sjoerd, move over and make room. I'd love a taste of Mark's food too. :D
